Daniel was pleasant and obliging at the start of our bathroom renovation, but unfortunately that professionalism disappeared the moment things went wrong. When the second-hand pedestal basin I had purchased was installed, I immediately noticed it was chipped at the tap hole and cracked at the same site. The cover plates for the shower and bath taps were also not installed. When I raised this with Daniel, he admitted to the chip but tried to claim the crack was already there before installation. This simply is not true. I had removed the old taps and thoroughly cleaned the basin the day before—there was no crack. It is incredibly disappointing to have damage dismissed rather than properly acknowledged. Daniel also blamed the builder for “packing out” the wall too much as the reason the tap cover plates not being fitted. However, he completed the rough-in before the walls were plastered, so this explanation makes little sense. It felt like deflection rather than accountability. I ended up paying out of pocket to have another plumber replace the damaged basin a few weeks later. On removing the original installation, the issues became even more concerning. The underside of the basin showed multiple chips and a very obvious crack running from the chipped tap hole—an extremely rough and careless job. Even worse, the PVC pipe join at the base of the pedestal was barely secured. It was essentially just sitting in place and came off in the new plumber’s hand due to insufficient glue and overlap at the connection. This experience has left me seriously worried about the quality of the work hidden behind the walls. I can only hope no further problems come to light. Sadly, what started as a positive interaction turned into a very disappointing and costly experience.
