Australian Hot Water – South Sydney

I would not recommend Australian Hot Water. I was present when a new hot water system was supplied and installed at our property. What was advertised and quoted as a fixed price turned out to be anything but. They promote low prices online, but watch out for the fine print, hidden conditions, and asterisks — that’s where their filthy sales tactics come into play. After completing the installation, they issued an invoice for more than the agreed quoted price. The issue isn’t just the extra cost — it’s that the price was increased without any approval before carrying out the work. At no point were we told the quote could change, and no one sought permission before proceeding at a higher price. Even worse, no proper explanation or justification was provided for the increase. They simply charged more after the job was done, leaving no real opportunity to question or refuse it. This felt like a classic bait and switch. A low price is used to get the job, then once they’re on site, the cost goes up and you’re stuck with it. When this was raised, the response was rude and dismissive rather than professional or helpful. Afterwards, we checked other reviews and found similar complaints from other customers. This doesn’t appear to be a one off. Be very careful if you deal with this company. Those attractive advertised prices are not what you’ll end up paying.

I would not recommend Australian Hot Water - South Sydney. I was given a fixed price quote of $3,212 over the phone for the supply and installation of a new hot water system. At no point was I told that this price was subject to inspection, or that it could change once the installer arrived. However, after arriving and completing the installation, they issued me an invoice for $3,307. The issue isn’t the extra $95. It’s that they increased the price without obtaining my approval before carrying out the work. I was the customer who accepted the original quote, yet they simply proceeded with the installation and then presented me with a higher invoice afterwards. What made this even more concerning was that no explanation or justification was ever provided for the price increase. They simply charged more than the agreed fixed price without discussing it with me first or giving me an opportunity to accept or decline the revised amount. To me, this felt like a classic bait and switch. A lower price was quoted to secure the job, only for the price to increase once they were on site, leaving me with little practical choice but to pay. If the quoted price was subject to inspection or could change, that should have been made clear from the outset, and I should have been asked to approve the revised price before any work commenced. When I questioned this, the person I spoke to on the phone was rude and dismissive rather than trying to resolve the issue professionally. Afterwards, I looked through other online reviews and found other customers describing similar experiences. Based on my experience, this doesn’t appear to be an isolated incident. Be very careful if you use this company. Get every quote in writing, ask whether the price is subject to inspection, and insist that they obtain your approval before carrying out any work if the price changes. In my experience, this was an unethical way to do business, and I won’t be using them again.

Great blokes, great service! We had another HWS company come out to quote to replace our HWS inside our apartment. They only suggested systems which were easy for them to install and not what we were after. A quick google search showed me that AHW could do exactly what they were quoting for more than $1000 cheaper! Gary was so helpful and went above and beyond to source the exact HWS we actually wanted and as soon as it came in he called and booked installation within the hour. Isaac came out to install the system. He was so friendly and his work was incredibly neat. Shortly after he left I noticed the valve was dripping so I called and he came straight back and fixed it. The service we have received from Australian Hot Water is beyond what we had expected. Highly recommend using them!

This is our second time using Australian Hot Water South, and I cannot rate them highly enough. Dan has gone above and beyond for us, particularly this close to Christmas and we are so grateful. The admin team during the day and after hours were quick and responsive.

Really quick response time, especially so close to the holidays, same day replacement of my old hot water heater, within a couple hours. Took time to go through the quote, and was efficient. Thanks Isaac and Ali!
